Anthropomorphic Prompt Signal for Home Appliance

  ABSTRACT :

 

Anthropomorphic prompt signal is a civilized expression message such as human interaction. Anthropomorphic prompt signal uses different attitudes (prompt level) to communicate with the user in response to user's situation or time. At the same time, anthropomorphic prompt signal takes environment and social norms into consideration, aiming to reduce interference and respect others.
This study explores anthropomorphic prompt signal design for prompt interface through collecting feedback messages and prompt signals on appliances, providing study results as follows: (1)"Prompt signals" are classified into different "signal intensity" according to sensory modality, various codes of the dimensions of the indicator light and sound, and degrees of interference. (2) "Prompt level" which is classified with product scenarios (seriousness of task consequences) according to risk managenment tool, includes broadcast type, time phase type, and critical type. (3)By comparing "signal intensity" with "prompt level", this study provides progressive anthropomorphic prompt signal for designers to apply to design.
And after experts examined anthropomorphic prompt signal which is applied to
N brand coffee machine, this study refine anthropomorphic prompt signal design.

​摘要:

擬人化提示訊號,是一種依循人類的文明的訊息呈現方式。擬人化提示訊號,隨著時間或使用者的回應情況,以不同的態度(提示層級)與使用者溝通。同 時,考量外在環境與社會規範的因子,擬人化提示訊號以尊重非使用者與降低 干擾層級為目標。本研究探索家電提示介面之擬人化提示設計,透過蒐集現有產品提示訊號 與回饋訊息,進行紮根理論分析,得出下列研究成果。

一、「提示訊號」(prompt signals)依照刺激的感官、指示燈提示音呈現的向度符碼及干擾程度分類,稱之 為「訊號強度」。二、以風險管理的角度提出以產品情境(任務後果嚴重性)為座 標的回饋訊息提示層級(prompt level),包括報知型、時限型、危害型。三、將「訊 號強度」對應「提示層級」,提出擬人化提示訊號設計,供設計師運用。文末以擬人化提示訊號設計應用於 N 牌咖啡機,並以專家驗證對擬人化訊 號設計作建議,改善後提出一完整擬人化提示訊號設計。
